Frequently Asked Questions
How does automatic odometer scanning work?
Gasly uses on-device text recognition (Apple's Vision framework) to read numbers from your camera viewfinder in real time. Point your phone at the odometer and the reading appears automatically. It works with digital and analog displays, as well as trip meters. No photo is captured, saved, or sent anywhere. Processing is entirely local.
What if the camera can't read my odometer?
If automatic recognition fails or looks wrong, tap "Manual" to skip the scan and type in your odometer reading directly. You can also edit any auto-detected value before saving.
How is fuel efficiency calculated?
Efficiency is distance driven since your last fill-up divided by the liters dispensed. Gasly computes distance automatically from consecutive odometer readings and stores the result at save time so nothing is recalculated later.
Does Gasly use my location?
Location access is optional. If you grant it, Gasly shows nearby fuel stations on a map so you can tap to select rather than type. Your location is never stored in fill-up records or transmitted to any server.
Is my data backed up?
Yes, via iCloud. It's on by default. Your fill-up history syncs across all Apple devices signed into the same iCloud account. You can disable iCloud sync in Settings at any time. No third-party server is ever involved.
Can I bring in data from another app?
Yes. Gasly Unlock includes CSV import, so you can bring in your existing records from other fuel-tracking apps. The free tier includes CSV export so your data is never locked in.
What does the one-time purchase unlock?
Gasly Unlock removes the one-vehicle and five fill-up limits, gives you unlimited history across multiple vehicles, and adds CSV import. Camera scanning, efficiency tracking, history, export, and iCloud sync are all free with no limits.

What iOS version does Gasly require?
